Howards Storage World started as a single store called “Stack and Store” in Northbridge in the early eighties owned and operated by Les and Edda Howard.
A partnership was formed with Dirk Spence in 1997 when it was established that there was market potential to roll out such a unique concept Australia wide and that this concept was ideal for franchising.
The first franchise store opened in 1998 and since then, Howards Storage World ® has come along way very quickly! Alex Dobrin became a partner in the company after successfully operating the 8th Franchise store at Warringah Mall. He quickly saw the potential to add his depth of retail knowledge to the unique Howards concept.
From there, there has been rapid expansion and the development of the operational structures necessary to support a growing group. With the establishment of dedicated buying, marketing, sales, merchandising and technical support, all Howards Storage World® franchisees operate as independent business yet are to the public – one highly co-ordinated group.
Highlights during 2004 include:
- By the end of 2004 there will be 40 stores operating around Australia
- Group Office has relocated and expanded to position the company for rapid expansion
- Finalist in the National Franchise Awards
- Implementation of an expanded marketing campaign to build brand and sales
- Growth in the centralized buying capacity and development of exclusive lines for Howards
